Vatican and St.Peters

Spent the day at the Vatican ,Particularly St.Peters Square. I was extremely taken by the Grandiose Colonnade that surrounded the Square. The open space outside of St. Peter’s was redesigned by Bernini from 1656 to 1667 during which time he designed the Colonnade surrounding the square as well as the fountains in the piazza. The Colonnade is designed in the Doric order, giving the structure a simple yet dominate presence.
